Fiels Keith Fiels will retire as executive director of the $51M-revenue American Library Association in July 2017, the Chicago-based organization recently announced. Fiels has led ALA since 2002. He previously was director of the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, a state agency, for 10 years. He also was president of the Chief Officers of State Library Agencies and staff consultant for the state libraries of New York and New Jersey.
