Library association CEO to retire

Fiels Keith Fiels will retire as executive director of the $51M-revenue American Library Association in July 2017, the Chicago-based organization recently announced. Fiels has led ALA since 2002. He previously was director of the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, a state agency, for 10 years. He also was president of the Chief Officers of State Library Agencies and staff consultant for the state libraries of New York and New Jersey. ALA's executive board will soon begin a search for Fiels' replacement and expects the search to last into summer 2017. Read More
